Drombeg Stone Circle Leica M240 and Leica M8

One of our final photo shoots for the Michael Collins House Museum in Clonakilty was at Drombeg stone circle.
The forecast was for a reasonable sunset.

I used My Leica M8 and the loan Leica M240 with my Elmarit 28mm f2.8, Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton.

Processed in Lr, Ps, and Nik Suite.

Timoleague Abbey Canon 5D2 50mm f1.4

For the Michael Collins House Museum we needed some photos of Timoleague Abbey.

Weather was dry but overcast so the sky is a bit flat but I've managed to salvage something with Lr, Ps and Nix suite.

I used my Canon 5D2 with the 50mm f1.4 lens. I really like this lens, its very sharp and has a lovely colours. For the wider shots I used my 24-70 f2.8.

Leica M240 in Clonakilty

We were loaned a Leica M240 by Bass & Bligh cameras in Harrogate to try out during the Michael Collins video shoot in Eire.

Our initial thoughts were that it might be nice to put this on the jib with a Voigtlander 15mm lens on it for nice sweeping shots. These thoughts were quickly dashed though when it was revealed that when shooting video the M240 suffers from a terrible rolling shutter when moved even slowly. It is also switched in automatic exposure mode when shooting video, not always what is required.

So, disappointed with the M240's video performance I gave it a chance to redeem itself as a stills camera. This, its pretty good at. I used my Leica 28mm f2.8 Elmarit, Voigtlander 15mm f4 and Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton lenses.
The Voigtlander 15mm vignetted and suffered magenta corners, these of course can be fixed with Cornerfix.
I found the Focus Peaking to be fairly poor compared to other systems I've used, the peaking is indicated in red and I found it hard to see, especially when shooting outdoors.

I used Lr, Ps and Nix suite to process the DNG files and they are easy to work on.

Old coastguard station Canon 5D2

We needed to shoot some video of this old coastguard station, which was burned to the ground by the British in 1922 for the Michael Collins House museum in Clonakilty.
While I was there I took a few photos with the Canon.
The sky was somewhat flat and featureless but I've managed to get some detail with Lr, Ps and Nix suite.

Clonakilty with Canon 5D2 and Canon 24 - 70mm L

Been for a walk around Clonakilty this morning taking photos of the town centre for use in the graphic panels at the Michael Collins House museum.

Used the Canon 5D2 which attracted quite a lot of attention for some reason.
